If you’re looking for the best way to enjoy the winter weather in Oklahoma, you’re in luck. There’s plenty to do when the thermometer drops all around the state. Here are a few of our favorite Oklahoma winter destinations and their distances from Broken Arrow:

Sledding Hills, 0-13 Miles

There is no shortage of places to go sledding in the Broken Arrow-Tulsa area. The Bass Pro Shops in Broken Arrow is one of the most popular spots in the area if you’re looking for somewhere nearby. If you’re looking for somewhere else, check out the hill on the northeast side of Tulsa’s Woodland Hill Mall or behind the Harwelden Mansion at 2210 S. Main St. in Tulsa. These are just a few of the best sledding spots in the area to explore.

Arvest Winterfest, 16 Miles

From Nov. 21-Jan. 3, the Arvest Winterfest at the BOK Center in downtown Tulsa will offer some of the area’s best ice skating. Be sure to reserve a spot for you and your family or friends to skate in the BOK Center this year. General admission to Winterfest is $12 per person. If you’re looking for a place to let the kids meet Santa, buy your tickets to the Breakfast with Santa event on Dec. 12 as soon as you can.

Owasso Tree Farm, 17 Miles

Go pick out one of the freshest Christmas trees you’ll ever find at the Owasso Tree Farm. Peruse the rows and rows of evergreens to find the one that speaks to you and your family. This agro-tourism destination has pre-cut trees available as well as live trees you can cut down to take home. Stop by the gift shop, where you’ll find unique Christmas decor and tree ornaments, plus, you can enjoy a delicious cup of hot apple cider.

Castle Christmas, 33 Miles

The Castle of Muskogee’s annual Castle Christmas event is one of the most popular attractions during the holiday season. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve, you can drive through the elaborate displays at the castle free of charge from 5:30-10 p.m, though donations are accepted. Let the kids ride through the village on a train or a camel. Take a classic hayride through the displays for $5 per person and $1 for kids under 12.

Garden of Lights, 37 Miles

Head down to Muskogee to enjoy the Garden of Lights from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day. Visiting this brilliant display of over 1 million lights is a tradition for many families in the area. Take a walk around the pond to fully experience the display. You can warm up with hot cocoa at the north pavilion concession stand.
